It's common for scents to cause coughing and wheezing, whether it be flowers, grass, spray deodorants, perfumes, or bleach. Lynsey reacted to these and spent a lot of time at the doctor's because of it.
At 14 months old, she was finally diagnosed with brittle asthma. She was prescribed prednisone and steroids, antibiotics and a home nebulizer.
7-Year Bursts
Lynsey's doctor told her asthma comes in seven-year bursts. Unfortunately, it never went away.
At 26 years old, she still has many of the same issues.
Problems With Diagnosis
Most hospitals won't diagnose asthma in a child under 12 months. Lynsey spent eight months of her life in and out of hospital, but they never told her family why. Her mom had to fight for her diagnosis.
